This gourd-shaped vase has drooping ears on its shoulders. Gourd-shaped vases are rare, with only four known so far. The neck is clearly decorated with a hinokagaki pattern, and the upper and lower portions of the gourd shape are decorated with vertical spatula marks. The beadlo glaze on the back is burnished, but the beadlo glaze on the front runs brightly, making this one of the most beautiful Iga ware vases with a fire-lined back.
