 Pottery shards similar to this have been excavated from the ruins of an old kiln in Iga-Ueno Castle, which was the residence of the Tsutsui clan, so this is probably an example from the Tsutsui period.
The body is rounded on one side and stroked on the other.
The body is rounded on one side and the hem is rounded on the other. The front is decorated with a molded pattern, and thick spatula eyes are placed on three sides. The body is reddish brown with a thin layer of ash from the mouth to the base, but the beautiful beadlo glaze has flowed in two lines over the red-hot body. There is also a single streak of iron glaze. On the front of the box lid, there is an inscription by Omotesenke VII Jyoshinsai: “Ikayaki suisashi inscribed Daikokubashira, in my possession (hanaseki).
