This is a large sake cup with a unique shape, with a rounded mouth with a beveled rim, ridges on the shoulders, and a richly stretched body and base. This type of vessel is sometimes seen in early Imari ware. The front is painted with pine trees and the back with plum blossoms, with clouds in between. The brushwork is strong and the colors of the underglaze blue are vivid. In particular, the pine tree on the front is reminiscent of an ancient underglaze blue of the late Ming dynasty.
