This is a truly beautiful bird figurine painted in red, light red, blue, and green.
The coloring is abstract, of course, but the red from the abdomen to the face is extremely vivid and deepens the impression of this small piece. The bird was molded in a split mold and then finely worked. The feet and rocks are covered with rust glaze, and the back of the bird is pierced with a small hole. The handles are quite light, and the base is not so tightly fired. This is probably one of the most desirable of the Kakiemon style carved pieces.
