The body and lid are hexagonal in shape with floral motifs on each side, and the shoulders of the lid and body have white windows on three sides with floral motifs also on the inside. The painted design on the body suggests that this vase was clearly made to order from Europe, but the lower limit of the pottery age can also be clearly estimated for this vase. In England, there is a collection of Japanese colored porcelain at Hampton Court, which was run by Queen Mary. Queen Mary died in 1694, and her collection at Hampton Court Palace, to which no additions have been made since her death, plays an important role as a source of information that can at least determine the lower limit of the collection. This piece was probably fired between Jokyo and the early Genroku period, as it shows a style similar to that of the Hampton Court collection. The bottom is flat and shows a fine white porcelain base.
