Height 5.5 cm, body diameter 5.5 x 5.6 cm
Insei also produced other lid vases in the “itomaki” design, which are also considered a favorite of the imperial court. The entire surface from the lid to the body is covered with white glaze, and the body is covered with green glaze. The bottom of the body is glazed with green glaze. The bottom is stamped with the Insei Makumei seal, but this is not discernible because of the overglaze. The joint between the back of the lid and the body is clay. On the front of the lid of the inner box, there is an inscription “Waku-no-Kagai,” so it seems that this type of waku was once called “waku” instead of “itomaki.
