Cochin incense containers were often featured because of their interesting colors and shapes, and this incense container is placed at the top of the ranking.
This incense set is also placed at the top of the ranking.
The author also saw six of the same shape, but they were all uniformly purple. However, all of them are uniformly purple, and I have yet to encounter a yellow-glazed crab.
However, since the numbering system clearly mentions “total yellow,” they must have existed somewhere. I would like to see it again.
This incense container is a very good one, showing dignity in its overall shape.
It was probably made according to the title of the painting, “Huagou,” which is a combination of chrysanthemum flowers and crabs.
It is easy to imagine how much Hirase Roka was attached to this type of incense container. It is currently in the collection of the Mitsui family.
