This is a special type of vessel with a mouth cut out of a flattened sphere, and with holes of about 1 cm in diameter on both sides of the center, it was probably made as a container for pouring liquid by passing a stick through the hole and placing the mouth up. This type of vessel has been excavated from the Ganjoji burial mounds in Gifu Prefecture and from tombs in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, and is considered to be a variant of Sue ware that shows the local color of the 7th century.
