This tea bowl is of the brush-washing type. Although it is of the brush-washing type, it was not originally made as a brush-washing bowl but as a tea bowl. It is of the same type as”Yukijishi”
When tea is prepared in this tea bowl, there is no doubt that the color of the tea bowl and the color of the tea will harmonize beautifully.
Such practical utility is what makes Hagi ware so appealing.
The unique Hagi-style persimmon color is intertwined with white glaze, creating a delicate feel. This is likely why it was named “Snow Lion,” evoking the image of a lion playing in the snow.
The subtle changes in the clay texture, glaze, and cherry-shaped foot rim around the base particularly catch the eye of tea connoisseurs, making this Hagi tea bowl highly prized as a masterpiece.
