The name “Kamuro” is said to have been given because Rikyu always kept it by his side and cherished it. The tradition of this name already existed during the time of Yamada Sōgen, and Tōsai rewrote it. There are black tea bowls with a style similar to Kamuro, and some are called “Kakushoku” after this name.
The bowl has a thick, rounded body, with the rim slightly inward, natural variations in height at the mouth, and some changes in the body’s waist.
The tea glaze rises evenly over the surface, giving it a deep, austere flavor. The foot is large, with three marks on the base, the rim stands well, and the cut at the edge of the foot is deep.
