This inscription originated from the collection of Shichiri Hikoemon.
It is a Fuji-style square shape, but compared to his other works, it is thinner, and the rim and bottom are carved with a single line. The high foot and the use of a chisel on the sides are sharp, clearly showing Koetsu’s characteristic style.
The jet-black lacquer glaze is applied in a Nonkou style, showing through in places where the fire has touched it, adding a touch of elegance and creating a beautiful scene.
