This tea caddy is called Noda-te Menage because its original model was owned by Noda Yahei, and Enshu named it after Noda. The original model is currently unaccounted for.
The author viewed this tea caddy at the Fujita Museum of Art, where it is highly praised, especially for its glaze, among genuine ancient kiln pieces. It is a type where the variations of Seto glaze appear most beautifully. The scenery is splendid: glaze pools in two lines around the rim, appears thin near the shoulder, and seems to flow down in one continuous stream to the base. Midway, a glaze flow that appears to descend straight from the shoulder creates a fine, static effect. It is cylindrical, with shoulders that meet the base without tapering, maintaining a moderate height. One might even say the exquisite charm of Japanese tea caddies began with this piece. Particularly, the clay is fired hard, and the thread-like cracks, appearing like board warping, are casually placed, which could be considered an elegant touch.
The four dust covers are beautifully coordinated in color, featuring Kinran, Donshu, and Kandou.
