Kiyomizu Temple
This ware was excavated from the hill behind Kiyomizu-dera Temple as a cremation funerary vessel. The clay and glaze tone indicate that it was produced at the Sanage kiln. Fragments of a four-footed jar of the same quality were excavated from Kurozasa Kiln No. 89. The clay is grayish-white and of high quality.
The ware is extremely well finished, and the light green ash glaze applied to the entire surface is in perfect harmony with the surface of the ware.
