

Biography
His name was Masayun, alias “Gonjuro”, and his family name was “Satoru”. He was the second son of Enshu. He succeeded to the Asai clan of his mother’s side at first, but later returned to the Kobori family name. He learned tea ceremony and calligraphy from his father, and was also proficient in waka poetry and painting. He died on August 4, 1694 at the age of 70.
Chashaku (tea ladle)
This is an excellent tea ladle with an interesting view of the lower part of the joints, and although it is the same as Enshu’s, it is still an excellent ladle with many highlights.

The poem is inscribed with a poem by Kugochi Meiko, “Shirakiku, shirakikku, shirakikuhana, katayosetsu” (White chrysanthemum, heart’s desire, or the first frost of the year).
