Like the piece shown above, this tea bowl employs the “Hokke” technique. The interior is coated with a white glaze, while the exterior is covered with a bluish-green glaze. The dragon winding around the body is rendered with fine raised lines. The dragon is an interpretation of the sandalwood lacquer technique used in lacquerware, applied to the ceramic surface by placing gold leaf under the glaze and then applying lacquer over it—a technique unique to the Bosen school. The “Yongle” mark is stamped at the base of the body.
