Although its form differs from other semi-cylindrical tea bowls, this is a tea bowl that vividly showcases the distinctive brushwork of the “Hidari-iri” style. The rim features pronounced undulations, the body is tall, and the section from the middle to the foot is rounded. The foot is low, with a flat, sharply carved base, and a swirl-shaped “kabuto-kin” (helmet-shaped decoration) is applied inside the foot. The surface from the waist to the foot and the body feature the shallow comb-like texture characteristic of Sairyu, and the rim is also adorned with fine, fine ridges. The glaze applied over the entire surface is slightly thin and has a sandy texture. This tea bowl is also one of the “Sairyu 200” set in a Sairyu joint box, and on the underside of the lid, Jushinsai has inscribed “Kaikau-sa” (signature).
