This piece is of the same type as the one on the previous page, and its craftsmanship is very similar. With its soft, earthy tone and the blurring of the indigo glaze, it is a masterpiece that gently warms the heart of the viewer. It was once part of the collection of the Bishu Tokugawa family and was imported during the Annam trade era.
The Tokugawa family is particularly famous for other pieces, such as the “Red Annam” tea bowls.
Annam refers to present-day North Vietnam, and the kiln was located in Bac Giang, near Hanoi.
