In Korean karatsu, we can see a simple, upright Chinese chive-shaped sake cup, but there is no example of such a varied shape with a face on the body as in this piece. It is interesting to note that the body has a gourd-like flavor, as if it were made of powdered lacquerware. The mouth, which is wide in shape like a cucumber, has a twisted rim in the shape of a ball, and the bottom has a flat bottom. The shoulders of the bowl have a large fire gap, showing the reddish burnt surface of the clay. There are several cracks on the body, which form a single scene. It may have been made by the Fujino Kawauchi Kiln.
