Travel pillows are typically cylindrical, derived from the shape of pillows used for travel; however, this is a square travel pillow that can be considered a one-of-a-kind piece.
This Kise-to hanging flower vase is a one-of-a-kind piece, and in terms of its style, it resembles the “Shino-kake” described in the next section.
Judging by the glaze finish, this work seems to demonstrate how Kise-to was gradually approaching the Shino style.
The inscription on the box is by Yamamoto Taian, a disciple of Fujimura Yoken; it mentions a Rikyu seal, but the seal itself has faded and is no longer visible.
