12th century
Height 43.0 cm, mouth diameter 17.3 cm, body diameter 39.3 cm, bottom diameter 13.4 cm
Although the mouth rim is regrettably missing, this jar is one of the few large engraved vases with engraved motifs. The neck of the mouth is slightly smaller than the body, but the body still retains its fullness, suggesting that this jar was made in the 12th century. The shoulders are decorated with two rows of half-cut bamboo tube arcs, with the top engraved in a thick sigillo pattern between the arcs. This is probably a later example of an engraved vase.
