Ichinoma (first room)

marusankakusikaku

Ichinoma is the first firing chamber of a continuous kiln. A fire is lit here to send heat to the first chamber, and then the fire is kept burning in the first chamber until the inside of the first chamber reaches a certain degree of fire temperature, after which the fire is kept burning in the second chamber. Kyo-kilns in the Seto area do not have a “pickup room. In addition, the current Seto round kilns do not have the name Ichi-no-Ma, and the first chamber is called Go-no-Ma, but this is because all round kilns removed the first four chambers during a certain period.
