This small kataguchi-tsubo, nicknamed Echizen ohaguro jar, has two ears on its shoulders and was probably originally used as an oil jar, as were small kataguchi-tsubo from Bizen and Tanba. The origin of this type dates back to the early Muromachi period. This small jar with a spherical body and thick neck must have been made in the very early Momoyama period. It has two flattened lateral ears on the shoulder.
