15th century
Height 14.8 cm, Body diameter 14.5 cm, Bottom diameter 9.5 cm
This is one of the small katakuchi vases typical of Iga and Shigaraki ware. The shoulder has fallen slightly due to distortion from burning, but it still retains its old appearance with a large body diameter in relation to its height. It is a rare example of a jar with a ten mark on a part of the shoulder. The dark green natural glaze is slightly clouded around the surface, showing the characteristics of Iga.
