The small, nearly spherical body, the long neck of the mouth, and the long, narrow neck of the mouth, which is inflected outward from the midpoint of the body, suggest that this vase was made near the end of the 15th century,
It was made near the end of the 15th century. The mouth, held in place by a finger, is large and beak-shaped. It is wheel-thrown, and the side edges of the bottom are shaped by shaving with a pommel. There is an indentation of woven seat on the underside of the bottom. The clay used for the base is low in iron content and is very well tempered, with a yellowish-green natural glaze over a bright fire-colored vessel skin in the form of sesame sprinkles. This is one of the superior examples of kataguchi small vases.
