This is the same type of jar as Figure 26, but the rough tortoiseshell design on this piece covers almost the entire surface of the body, and it is a gorgeous piece that shows the decorative qualities unique to the Ko-kutani style.
The outer frame of the tortoiseshell motif is yellow, the inner frame is green and red, or dark blue and red, and the center is purple with a crane circle design, which is an excellent color scheme. The mouth and shoulders, and the hem of the body to the base are covered with a single yellow band, which makes the tortoiseshell design stand out even more.
