Height 22.1 cm, mouth diameter 14.9 x 15.2 cm, bottom diameter 14.4 cm
This flower vase stands up smoothly with a warped edge. The mouth is pressed on all four sides to form a jyukuri shape, and the base of the body is decorated with a convex band that looks as if it is made up of eight layers of rings. The interior is painted with underglaze iron pigments, and the entire surface, except for the bottom, is glazed with a pale, slightly rough, pierced glaze of the color of decayed leaves. The upper part of the body is painted in blue overglaze paint with a detailed Shibagaki-like pattern in random brushstrokes, and the bottom is decorated with horizontal stripes in gold, green, and blue. The interesting harmony between the clearly color-coded horizontal stripes and the sketchy Shibagaki pattern is a design unique to Kyo-yaki pottery. Today, all pottery of this type is called Koshimizu.
