“Shibaku” means plain white, and this name was derived from the beauty of this tea bowl. Made with the same skillful powder-coated technique as those of Matsudaira and Miyoshi, it differs in shape and offers a distinct charm. In terms of tea flavor, it may even be said to have a deeper quality. This small tea bowl features a rounded body and a sturdy bamboo-jointed foot, creating a contrast that already evokes the essence of tea, making it rich in charm.Additionally, the fire marks are unusually large, creating a striking scene that adds further charm. The glaze flowing horizontally in two streams across the fire marks is also an interesting detail. The white glaze, which is sometimes thick and sometimes thin, allowing the base material to faintly show through, is a unique feature of Chu-haku.
