This tea caddy is a rare piece from the collection of Matsudaira Fumai. The overall shape and the bulge of the body are uniform, forming a well-balanced shape with a stable base.
The shoulder rises straight from the base, neither too high nor too low, creating a harmonious and elegant form, which is a distinctive feature of this tea caddy.
The dark persimmon glaze covers the entire surface, with the clay visible beneath the body, creating an interesting contrast of light and dark glaze.
The board-shaped base is slightly wide and well-balanced.
The author saw this tea caddy for the first time when it was brought out by the Unshu family in the early Showa period.
