Tsujido Incense Boxes in underglaze blue are ranked first in the western section of the Incense Boxes ranking, and are said to be the oldest of all the underglaze blue works. They are few in number, and only five are known to the author.
Of these, this incense container is the most outstanding, showing no defects, and is highly praised among all the katamono incense containers.
The colors are extremely vivid, the design of pine needles and fallen leaves are dyed in indigo, and the shape is neat.
The “hi-tsuchi” (reddish color) on the lid, or “kikkagari” (where the lid is placed on the body), was loved by the tea masters.
Tsujido“ is written in the ranking list, but in the old days, ”kuzu-ke” was also written.
Tsujido” was a small shrine standing at a crossroads on a country road.
Other similar items are all treasured and cherished by tea masters.

There are very few of these in existence.
