It is said that the fifth-generation Ōhi began firing pure black Raku ware, and this tea bowl is truly representative of his black Raku. Although it has a simple form—with the neck drawn inward, the body slightly tapered, and a rounded waist—the glaze pattern is vivid. It is covered in a curtain glaze, with a yellow patch in the style of Michiiri on one side of the body, and traces of red glaze are also visible. The Ōhi seal is stamped on the lower section, and it is housed in a matching box with “Godaidaihi Chōzaemon In” inscribed on the lid of the inner box.
