This vase is one of the new types of vessels that emerged in the Muromachi period (1336-1573). Both ash and iron glazes were used for the glaze. This is an early example of this type of vase. It is water-glazed and has a three-tiered base with a peony motif pasted on the neck and shoulders.
It is a rare example with an attachment. The design of the base and foot is unusual, and the decoration of flowers and grasses in the form of a sunburst remains from the previous generation, and is thought to date from the early 15th century.
