Father of Kakiemon I. He moved from Shiraishi in the eastern part of Arita (Shiraishi Town, Kishima County, Saga Prefecture) to Minamigawara in Magarukawa Village (Magarukawa, Nishi-Arita Town, Nishi-Matsuura County). He liked haikai and became acquainted with a certain priest at Jotenji Temple in Hakata, Chikuzen Province (Fukuoka Prefecture), and happened to know Takehara Goroshichi (Takahara) through this priest, who taught his son Kakiemon the art of Shirashi zuezuke. This was during the Kan’ei period (1624-44).
