Butsudo-ji Temple
This is a so-called “Shigaraki” vase, a type of vase unique to Iga and Shigaraki. The neck of the mouth is small and the shoulders are rounded and raised, suggesting that it is a liquid container.
It is made of iron-rich clay containing fine particles of feldspar. There is a rope pattern on the shoulder and a △ engraving above it. It is covered with a light green natural glaze that has been well fired and turned white.
