There are two types of vessel bases: cylindrical bases with hemispherical or conical pedestals and cups at the top, and high cup bases with widened pedestals and deep bowls. The former type is used in combination with a “gah” and the latter with a wide-mouthed jar. The former type can be traced to Baekje ceramics and the latter to Silla ware, but the fact that the two types of Sue ware were produced side by side from the beginning suggests that they were combined in Namsun (Nonna) and introduced to Japan, giving a strong indication of the origin of Sue ware.
