This tea bowl was owned by Rikyu and was used at the Kitano Tea Ceremony, hence its name. It is also known as Kitano Kuro.It was once owned by Rikyu, as evidenced by the box inscription and accompanying documents by Eison, and is particularly associated with Rikyu.
The exterior glaze is well-fired but the surface is rough. The interior is finished with tea glaze. It has a large, black shape with a slightly curved rim. The foot has four eyes.
