The author had the opportunity to carefully examine this tea caddy at the Sakai family residence and during the auction. Although it is a Bunrin style, it is unusual in that it is wide around the mouth and flat and round in shape. The tray is also unusual.
The Chinese glaze is well fired, and the thick glaze on the body creates a pattern that resembles a landscape, giving it a decorative appearance.
There are four covers. They are beautiful covers by Utsubo Donshu, Aoki Kandou, Kensaki Ryumon Kinran, and Sasamatsu Donshu.
The black lacquered square tray is by Fujishige and is inscribed by Soudan in the original box.
