This tea caddy is a slightly tall, round Bunrin-style caddy. The slightly yellowish tea glaze and swirling cloud-like pattern make it suitable for display.
It has a tray with a thread cutter and a high foot ring.
When Shokado became a priest at Ishimizu Hachimangu Shrine and entered Takimoto-bo, it is recorded that Mr. Nakano, who was in Nara at the time, brought him this tea caddy as a gift from Meigan and as a double engagement gift. Mr. Nakano was Shokado’s older brother, Sakyo Nakano.
The four covers are designed with swirls, flower-colored arabesques, Hosokawa Donshu weaving, and Ito Kandou.
