Tea Scoop
A tea scoop instantly recognizable as Chidoan’s work, crafted from sesame bamboo with a beautiful finish.

Tube
Entirely shaved from the skin. Inscribed in Katagiri Sekishu’s hand: “Master Chidoan’s work. At the time of viewing, my brush was suddenly stained with ink.” The seal at the mouth is Sekishu’s knife seal.

Accessories
Box: Paulownia wood, unfinished. Inscription: Written by Matsudaira Fumai.
“Made by Min’ō. Case. Sōkan Kōji.”

Postscript
This tea scoop was purchased by Matsudaira Fumai from Sagamiya Gibe in Kyoto for fifty ryo.
This scroll inscription reveals Sekishū’s reverent feelings toward his predecessor. Sekishū’s tea lineage descended from Sōsen of Kuwayama, who was a disciple of Dōan, making Sekishū a grand-disciple of Dōan.
