[Interpretation of the Letter]
I have been in good spirits since returning from Arima on private business. However, I have since caught a cold and am suffering from a cough, confining me to bed and preventing me from writing in detail. I shall report further shortly. With respect,
I have received your esteemed letter. It seems the tea scoop presented to Lord Hizen from Furuta Oribe’s workshop was mentioned. I have examined it and see it is undoubtedly Oribe’s work. It is truly splendid. It is a rustic tea scoop. Since it was presented to Lord Hizen, it would be most fitting.
Regardless of where it may be, the tea scoop appears most interesting. I believe it stands out even among Oribe tea scoops. I have prepared a tube and written a letter to present it. This thread is white, smooth, and soft. Moreover, it has no dried bamboo. I believe this tube is excellent. If it does not meet your approval, I shall submit another one. As I have written in dark ink, it may appear somewhat crude.
With deepest respect,
