Although this underglaze blue ginkgo incense container is not listed in a ranking list, the shape of ginkgo leaves has been appreciated as a type of Japanese order, and the shape of the incense container is also very harmonious.
The design of a spider’s web hanging from the indigo-painted scrolls is interesting.
It looks as if small insects are flying above the spider’s web, making this a truly elegant and richly decorated incense container.
This may be the only incense container with such a design. Because it is an extremely rare piece, it has been highly praised by tea masters to this day.
Once, a certain tea master in Osaka had it as his favorite and only item.
Kuresu also has a gingko incense container, which was probably ordered around the same time. It is also listed in the “Karemono Kogai Banzuke” (list of articles with incense).
