Height: 5.8 cm; Mouth diameter: 33.2 cm; Base diameter: 19.2 cm
This flat bowl features the exact same design as the Chōjirō-yaki Two-Color Gourd-Motif Flat Bowl; it may be a replica commissioned by the Kōnoike family, who owned a Chōjirō-yaki flat bowl. It is a flat bowl with a tsuba-style rim, divided into twelve sections, with relief patterns of lions and peonies alternately applied to each face, and a gourd depicted in incised lines at the center. The dividing lines and the base are left unglazed. The lions are covered with yellow glaze; the peonies with yellow, purple, and light blue glazes; and the gourd with yellow, purple, light blue, and iron glazes. The background is covered with a dark green glaze.
While Chōjirō-yaki works typically feature two colors, this piece adds additional hues to create a bowl with vivid colors. The “Eiraku” mark is stamped in the center of the base; the lid of the box is inscribed with “Kōchi-yaki Flat Bowl,” and the underside of the lid bears the inscription “Mark: Made by Zen’ichirō.”
