On the front of the original box lid, it is inscribed “Sometsuke Sake Cup Stand” Since the inscription “Made in Takatsuki by Hozen” is written on the underside of the lid, this is a blue-and-white piece from the very late period of Takatsuki ware. The wide, open rim of the cup stand features a pine, bamboo, and plum motif; the reverse side depicts peonies and arabesques; and the legs are adorned with tall, eight-petaled lotus petals. However, blue-and-white pieces from Takatsuki ware generally suffer from inferior color tones and often exhibit flaws such as uneven glazing. This was likely due to poor clay quality. Inside the footring, “Made in Takatsuki, Eiraku-style” is inscribed within a double circle, and the “Tak” seal is stamped on the left side.
