Height: 8.0 cm, Mouth Diameter: 10.6 cm, Foot Diameter: 4.6 cm
The rim, which curves inward, has slight undulations, and the body is distinctly flared. The foot is slightly compact and well-defined; a subtle kabuto-kin (helmet-shaped) pattern is carved into the interior of the foot, and three tool marks remain on the foot’s base. Across the entire piece, and particularly on the black glaze, numerous reddish mottled patterns—commonly referred to as “vermilion glaze”—appear from the sides to the foot, and are also evident on the interior. Unlike Dōin’s works, this is a tea bowl with Ichin’s unique style, modeled after Chōjirō’s tea bowls. On the underside of the box lid, Gensai Ittō has inscribed: “Ichin Black Tea Bowl: Chōga (seal).”
