This short-necked jar, with a square-shaped outer fold and a stout shoulder, was probably used as an outer container for a sutra tube. It is made of grayish-white, rather coarse clay, and is wheel-thrown and neatly shaped. It is very well fired, with a dark green ash glaze covering the shoulder and half of the body. Although it is similar to a Tokoname ware, it is thought to have been made in the southern part of the Sanage kiln, near the Chita Peninsula, in terms of material. In terms of form, it should be included in the 12th century period.
