This pottery is thought to have been made in the early Momoyama period, judging from the slightly thick, upright neck and the rounded body shape. The clay is fine and fine-grained, characteristic of this period, with a well-fired reddish-brown color and natural glaze on the neck and half of the body. The mouth rim is partially broken off, so it is not clear whether or not it once had a mouth. There is a thickly painted kiln mark+ on the shoulder.
