14th century
Height 50.4 cm, mouth diameter 19.2 cm, body diameter 42.6 cm, bottom diameter 14.2 cm
This piece is the most characteristic of Suzu ware, which is characterized by its black color. The top of the upright neck is thickened and beveled to a width of 9 mm. Another characteristic of this period is the outward protrusion of the center of the mouth and neck. The entire surface of the body has been beaten and tightened in the shape of twilled cedar, and the body is beginning to show a slight tendency toward a polyhedral body. The side edges of the bottom are shaped by cutting out the beaten pattern with a pommel. It is dated to the mid-14th century.
