This is a typical 8th-century storage jar with a flattened, round-bottomed body and a short neck. The mouth rim is slightly tilted inward. The outer surface is made of rolled-up clay, and the surface of the vessel has been adjusted by scraping over the stripes of beaten clay. The clay has a high iron content and is fired in a near-oxidized state, resulting in a dark green natural glaze on the shoulders, making this a very impressive piece.
