This is a work that makes full use of the underglaze blue technique of the Nabeshima domain kilns, which prided themselves on their perfect technique. The large design of the large pine tree that fills the dish is hard to believe that it was made for a 5″ dish. Although the celadon glaze applied to the margin is slightly darkened, this is probably the best design among the celadon blue-and-white five-sided dishes. The outside of the dish is fully decorated with peony arabesques, as in the above figure, and the base is a comb-shaped base.
