Made in the state beach style, it is slightly deep, with a generous glaze that is somewhat translucent, showing a faint reddish hue within a pale blue tone. The glaze finish is truly elegant. The subtle hidden fine lines add to its charm. The foot is sturdy and tall, with two cuts, and finger marks are visible. The sides have a casual, cat-scratch-like texture, making it highly appealing. It is attributed to Iki San’en-sai, who was a retainer of the Ikeda clan of Okayama and renowned as a tea master. He created the Chūmei-yaki tea ware in Chūmei, his fiefdom.
