A specialty of the Uzurafu Chukyo period. An old Seto kagatatsu tea caddy. Originally owned by a certain Asano, it was later acquired by Inaba Masanori, who asked Kobori Enshu to inscribe it. Enshu named this tea caddy after the family name of the original owner and after the poem “How Semushino no Butsuri ga Ne ni Tate Asano no Kijiji no Kakurenaki Myself” by the former right minister Irimichi in Koi 2, Shin’yoshu. The ground has quail spots in persimmon gold with black ochigata nadare, a thin candy glaze around the shoulder, and a tray with itadake and suname clay. The tray is made of sandy clay. This tea caddy is rich in a calm and subdued taste. This tea caddy was kept in the Inaba family as a treasured item, but moved to the Matsuura family around 1901 or 1901-2 (Meiji 34 or 35).
